Thomas McNamara (born Abt 1830 in Newtown, County Roscommon, Ireland)
« on: Thursday 23 April 15 09:21 BST (UK) »
Need help researching Thpmas McNamara who was born circa 1830 in Newtown, County Roscommon, Ireland. He married Bridget McCarthy in 1830 in Lescannoe, County Clare, Ireland and I know that she emigrated to Australia and lived in Brisbane until her death in 1927. I have no knowledge as to whether Thomas accompanied her and if so when he died and where he he was buried. This link is critical for the family line I am researching and it seems to go nowhere.

Any assistance would be appreciated.

Hiya Tigers - you have Thomas b 1830 - and married 1830 ...so one of your dates is wrong ...presumably a typo (typing mistake )
do you know what year Bridget went to Australia and did she have any children with her ?

could Thomas McNamara have died in 1851 ??   probate of a will - is Ayle Upper close to Lescannoe ?

ADDED
Can't find a town called Lescannoe in Co Clare - should it be Liscannor ?

a possibility that Thomas McNamara came from money
http://landedestates.nuigalway.ie/LandedEstates/jsp/estate-show.jsp?id=2032

Ayle Upper is a small village of 227 acres in the Parish of Feakle ,County Clare ....according to Wiki
where did you get your info that Thomas McNamara was b Roscommon ??...seems a bit of a coincidence that he married in Ayle Upper which happens to be in the Manor of the McNamara family...unless he was a cousin of the McNamara family ??

added
Griffiths valuation 1855 - McNamara ,Co Clare - I can find 4 in Ayle Upper
Thomas McNamara
James McNamara
Patrick McNamara
Margaret McNamara
no Bridget / Bridgit

you will need to view other pages as well for McNamara ...google Clare Library 1855 griffiths valuation
good luck

"Lescannoe" could be the town/townland of Liscannor in Kilmacrehy civil parish (Ennistimon Poor Law Union/registration district).
Away sorting out DNA matches... I may be gone for some time many years!

Oops ..... that is an error. Obviously the 1830 is assumed and is based on their child James Joseph McNamara who was born about 1872. Their marriage was 1860 and not 1830 as I put in the original post.
