This very much depends on what you regard as your country.  ;D

Skoosh.

I was born in  West Sussex, England. I don't know, is my country England or Sussex, am I English or Sussexish  ;) ;D
Just to confuse matters, people keeping trying to tell me my county doesn't exist. Grrr!!
I'm from Middlesex! It DOES still exist!!!

I would think you are what you think you are so you might be getting some of these much touted English votes sometime soon.  ;D

Of course it exists  ;D

On Staines station the departure board was saying the next station was Ashford (Surrey) but the announcement said Ashford, Middlesex.

I think it is one of the strengths of the UK ( and the envy of many millions who live in divided, war-torn lands) that we can proudly maintain our regional identities and allegiancies whilst still being part of one nation state.

Well said bykerlads :)

Ditto.

But not British, Jane?! ;D

Thereby lies the problem - how many people consider themselves to be British?

KG,  therein lies a problem.  My mother is from Southern Ireland.  Am  I half Irish or completely English as I was born here.  To be perfectly honest I don't care either way!

By the way must go to Specsavers.  I thought those were poppies on the Rootschat Banner.

Jane, It was a rose yesterday April 23rd  ;D
(I was born in West Sussex too)

Oh, silly me.  Yes I did hear mention of that somewhere ;D

I consider myself 100% British, my Father born in Lancashire, his Father born in Ireland, his Father born in Scotland. What can I say.

@ bykerlads & co, anent these war-torn lands that we are so fortunate in not living in, cue the Hovis music! Britain has been at war with nearly every country in the world and still haven't kicked the habit.
