Did Charles stay in Oz?
« on: Thursday 23 April 15 15:38 BST (UK) »
I have Charles E Paull b Sept 1/4 of 1924 in Southwark London.
On 3 Jun 1947 he left London bound for Melbourne on the ship called The Orion.
He was 22 and a sheet metal worker. Then we lose him.

There is a Charles E Paull in the electoral rolls in Victoria as an engineer, but I'm not convinced that he's my chap. His parents are Thomas Alfred Paull and Florence Annie Paull (nee Thomas).

Can anyone with knowledge of what records can be accessed in Australia please help.

Did he marry, die out there, come home........???

Many thanks to anyone who can help.

Carol

We know all about his parents and siblings thanks Liz,it's just that after he left for Oz in 1947,no one in the family can find anymore about him. His parents married in Newington on 1st Aug 1915.

Hi,
Do you have a middle name for Charles please?.

Leanne

I've emailed my friend whose family this is, to see if he knows.

I think it might be Edward, but there isn't another Edward in the family so I may be wrong.

I'll come back to confirm or deny that name later.

Thanks,

Carol

EDIT: Application 1946, so not your Charles who arrived 1947

Oh Wow- cupoflife, that's fantastic, can't believe he only died last year.
He had 3 brothers and a sister who have all been dead for quiet some time.
Apparently one of them got the Salvation Army to do a search for him in the 1960's.
That's when they discovered that he'd moved out to Oz,but that was the last anyone heard of him.

Sounds like that's another branch of the family that can be put to bed now.

Once again many thanks
