Connection to the Onions Family
« on: Monday 27 April 15 05:09 BST (UK) »
My great grandparents Joseph Steadman and his wife Hannah Wardley have been mentioned in this forum before. Many years ago, my Uncle mentioned that their family was connected to the Onions family (maybe Alldays and Onions). He said something about a bicycle works. I do not know if the information is correct but would appreciate advice if anyone is aware of the connection. Thanks

Link to another persons family tree showing their children that would have to be cross referenced with official informationt to see if correct (again no mention of Onions or Alldays)

Hello,

Don't know if you can help me trace a portrait in oils painted by Joseph Thomas Steadman between 1888 and 1889. His sitter was James Maybrick, a Liverpool cotton broker, which (according to a press report) was executed at the artist's Liverpool studio shortly before Maybrick's death in May 1889, allegedly the result of being poisoned by his young American wife. The press critic found it an "excellent likeness and very fine picture" which was exhibited at the Liver Sketching Club's exhibition in June 1889.

Regret unable to shed any light on the link to the Onions family, but any information about JTS's picture of Maybrick would be gratefully received.

Hello,
Sorry, I am unable to help you trace the portrait you are looking for. I have only seen images of paintings by J T Steadman shown on the Internet. Good luck with your search,
Greylady
