But it is not on street view; can you move from Google earth to a view of the frontages?

There are many houses on Google Images for Webb estate Purley, I can't see this one though. Most of the houses seem to have big gardens/grounds to the front of them, do you think our house has? It is hard to tell.

This is sort of what I think is going on at the front of the house

Please note, I don't think this is the house in the original photo, or even that the house is definitely on the Webb Estate.

Good evening,

Have never delivered on the Webb Estate but have done some rds nearby in the past. Our boss has a large house on the periphery ie; on the A237.

The house I'm thinking off is more rural although close to habitation. The drive runs on up to 1 or 2 more houses and is on the border of the property. The grounds are to the left and rear of the house and the road is down to the left.

It's shooting night tonight so won't be in till later but will give it some thought.

At least we now know what the man is doing there out the front of his house - looking out for his hamper delivery!

Liz, I've had the day from hell today, but that really made me laugh and cheered me up - thanks for that  ;D

Perhaps it was a shooting lodge on a large estate, once upon a time....The man in plus fours (if not looking out for a hamper) may have been been watching out for poachers or such like...

I'm still keeping eyes open for this one, and I thought for a few seconds I'd found it - but sadly not  :(

https://www.onthemarket.com/details/1530089/

I got quite excited when I found this while looking for WAI 12/12a, but it set me wondering. It's Castle Hill House, Rotherfield, and according to some old planning documents at Wealden Council (you can search on postcode TN6 3RR) it has changed quite a bit over the years. (I didn't look at all the documents and plans.) One of the things mentioned was a one-storey wing at the north end (the far end of what we see - if it's the same house) which was burned down some time last century. But unfortunately our house has 3 gables on the side to the right, whereas Castle Hill House has 4, and I got the impression that none of the changes had been quite as major as that.

Another thing about it is that the local railway station for Castle Hill House is Crowborough & Jarvis Brook, as in WAI 203. I even wondered if the chap in No. 19 might be one of the ones with bikes on the platform of No. 203, though I suspect not.

Anyway, just thinking out loud, really, and trying to spot connecitons, but it might inspire someone else. Or might there be a connection between No. 203 and No. 12/12a? (Probably better answer that on 12a rather than here.)

Having had several WAIs in The Lake District, I am now wondering whether this could be there? It looks to me as though there is water-a river/lake behind the property, with hills in the background.

Many Edwardian properties around Windermere are half-timbered, and in looking at those I see that the "eyebrow" windows on WAI 12 seem to feature in that part of the world!

No time to keep looking now, but just a thought !
