Sandra....Thank you for posting so much info....a lot of it I do already have on her as well as a lot of her family as she is my paternal great grandmother......the FindaGrave memorials many of them I have made. I am hoping for information on her and family prior to come to the USA from Germany. Her and Albert's son Irwin John Marx in my paternal grandfather and family lost tract of him after his divorce from Ruth L. Good.

I am looking for information from Germany....her parents Nathan Jacoby & Josephine Frank Jacoby.

I will scour your notes for information I do not already have....thank you!!

I would love to find out more about her, her family in Bad Kreuznach...if her family continued to live there after she left, if they died and are buried there and where.

Your original message did not indicate that you knew her siblings had also travelled to the USA. Which is why I began to investigate them in the USA to see what else turned up, it could have been possible that her parents may have immigrated as well.
It would have been better if you had listed the names of all her siblings with there birth dates and explain that you knew they were all in the USA.

Hi,

Do you understand German? Further research will be much easier if you do.

Archival informational to further your research will be held in the Landeshauptarchiv (LHA) Koblenz (= Main or Central State Archives in Koblenz) www.landeshauptarchiv.de

In 1794, the French under Napoleon occupied the German-speaking territories on the left bank of the Rhine. This included Bad Kreuznach. In genealogical terms this was great news (it also meant a large degree of emancipation for the Jews), as it led to the establishment of civil registration. That didn't happen in other parts of Germany until 1874!! The key registers for Kreuznach are the so-called Dezennaltabellen, which were alphabetical lists of births, marriages and deaths compiled every ten years from 1808 to 1872. The lists for Kreuznach are held in the LHA Koblenz (Bestand 656 Sachakte 9)

In 1808, the French authorities also issued a decree compelling the Jews to adopt fixed forenames and surnames. The original list is held in the LHA Koblenz (Bestand 256 Sachakte 364)

Annahme bestimter Familien- und Vornamen durch die Juden des Rhein- und Moseldepartements
(Adoption of fixed family names and forenames by the Jews of the Rhine and Moselle Departements)

Page 9 to 41 cover the Jewish families of Kreuznach

In the first instance, you should try writing an email to the LHA at post@landeshauptarchiv.de

Have you registered with JewishGen (researcher #673480)? I would urge you post an introductory message to GerSIG and also contact other people who are researching ancestors from Bad Kreuznach. Carol Baird is a particularly energetic research, and very helpful.

Best of luck,

Justin

Sandra~

I apologize for not being clearer in my initial post....should have stated info I had about Fannie and her siblings here in the states.

I know Germany does not give birth certificates unless you can show direct descendant, I can only show this through my family tree but no direct documentation showing line to me as her great grandson.

Am still hoping to find info of her years in Germany as well as her parents whom I find no record of their coming to the USA.

Justin~

I do not read or speak German despite taking a college course over 40 years ago...haven't used it in all the years since. I will try to E mail the source you indicated and see if I can get some type of reply rom them concerning Fannie and her parents Nathan & Josephine Jacoby. Thank you!!
