James Flynn & Bridget Daley
« on: Monday 27 April 15 23:37 BST (UK) »
Hi,
I am trying very hard to find any details on James Flynn's arrival to Australia. Pretty sure he came over from Ireland.
His parents are Cornelius william Flynn (B. 1827 in Queenstown, Ireland) and Ellen Healy ( B. 1832 in Cork, Ireland.
James was born on 6 January 1859 in Ramsagte, KEN
He died on 25 April 1942 in Beeac, Victoria, Australia.
James married Bridget (nee Daley) on 25 November 1879 in Colac, Victoria, Australia.
  - Bridget was born in 1859 and died on 13 September 1915
  - Her parents are Richard Daley & Mary Ann (nee maroney)
We think that they had 12 children:
Ellen
Richard William
Mary
Elizabeth Margaret
Catherine Mary
James Joseph - definetely a child. born in 1891 and died 29 October 1960 in Dandenong, Victoria, Australia. He married Alice Slater  in 7 january 1914 in Casterton, Victoria, Australia and had 7 children (joseph Bernard, Iris Mary, James, Kathleen, Eileen, Joan, Bridget)
Cornelius Michael
John
Lawrence
Ignatius
Daniel
Anastastia
** We are not certain of any of these childrens exact names, except that of James Joseph as he is my inlaws direct decendant.
We thought that Bridget was born in Derwent Jacks, Victoria, Australia however we then ound more information suggesting that she may have also been born in Ireland and came over with James.
Any help to confirm any of the above details would be so great. And any additional information anyone can provide would also be fantastic!
I look forward to hearing from someone.
Thanks in advance. :)

Why do you think he came from Ireland? He was in Wales in 1871

Did others in the family also go to Australia? There is an online tree that also has Mary Ellen in Australia, but no other information.

Hi Groom,
I had been told by other family members (who couldn't be certain) that he came from Ireland but as I couldn't find anything on the move, I thought it may be wrong.
His sibings that you have listed, what does the number next to their name mean? Sorry I am new to al of this and don't understand some things. Hopefully I catch on quickly!
Many thanks

Thank you. The only problem with this one is that I am unsure if that John Patrick Flynn is from this Flynn line...
If he was born in 1859, then that would mean he was born the same year as his father James flynn. So I'm guessing they don't match up, unless I have his Father's DOB incorrect, which I don't think I do..
This is where I get so confused because every second person in the Flynn families seem to be named either James, Joseph or both!
I then thought that maybe he could be a brther of James Flynn, However then the parents names don't match up as James' father's name is Cornelius and his Mother's is Ellen.. UNLESS.... I have missed a whole generation in there somewhere  :-\

Do you have any other help you could offer?

Thanks again, I really appreciate it.
Same problem again though.. So far we haven't found a James Flynn in the family who has had a child named Michael. We have a Cornelius Michael though, do you think that it may be possible that he went by Michael instead of Cornelius?

Could be that Conelius Micheal Flynn went by Micheal Flynn instead. Best to get him checked out by someone that does Victoria birth lookups.

Some of James Flynn's children would have be eligible for WW1, I would have expected to find more. Did James Joseph Flynn enlist?
