Where is Amy
« on: Thursday 30 April 15 17:17 BST (UK) »
Hi, l hope you can h help with this one, my ancestor Maria Travi   1890-1915 married James Morgan 1887 in 1909, on the 1911 census they have a daughter Amy 1910, l cannot find a birth for Amy but l have found her in and out of City Road workhouse infirmary august to october 1910 with her mother Maria her birth date on infirmary record is 29.12.1909.
Maria died in 1915 and her fathers military record records next of kin Arthur Morgan father but no mention of Amy,
Did she die or did he give her to someone else as has happened as we know.
Going round in circles with this one fresh eyes needed.

thankyou

You haven't said where the "City Road workhouse infirmary" is actually located so it's difficult to start searching for any clues for you but if Amy was a child then her father's military record would be unlikely to list her as next of kin.
Away sorting out DNA matches... I may be gone for some time many years!

Hi Reflector,

Don't know whether this helps or not but...

Are you sure that her name was Amy?

I ask because I notice that James Morgan & Maria Travi married in Dec qtr 1909 in the Shoreditch registration district. In the same qtr (December) a birth of an Annie Florence Morgan is also registered in 1909 in the Shoreditch registration district.

Was she Amy or Annie?

Kind regards

David

James and Maria married on Oct 4th 1909 at St Mary's Hoxton.
The birth place of Amy (1911 census) could have been in Shoreditch district. It seems to move around a lot in early 1900s. Holborn and Islington are also possible districts

Thankyou for you replies,
l have marriage of James andMaria 4th Oct 1909.
On 1911 it does look like Amy but will take another look and check the Annie Florence (possible as Florence was Maria's mothers name)
l did check Florence Amy but her mother had another name but will do another check.
On the Army records there is a box re marriage and any children l thought he would have put Amy there but no childrens name  ???
Will have another go and see if anything turns up, l will keep you posted
Thankyou

Hi, l have checked names
Annie Florence parents James and Elizabeth
Florence Amy      "           "                "
Florence Annie     "       William and Florence.

l think i shall admit defeat on this as l do really believe that James let some one else fetch Amy up as their own with a differant surname, but if anybody has a breakthrough l would be delighted.
thankyou all.
