Caesar WARD
« on: Monday 04 May 15 04:49 BST (UK) »
I am hoping that someone can provide me with information on Caesar Ward born about 1705, not sure where he was born.
He married Anne Millard at Tettenhall in 1729 and she died in December that same year.
I think that he then married Mary Jenks in 1731 at Wolverhampton.
I would like to be able to trace his parents or any other children other than Mary & William
 Thank You
 Val Newman

Hello and welcome to RootsChat

Are you aware there is a biography of Caesar & Ann Ward?

Caesar Ward baptism 2 Jun 1710 St Sepulchre London father Caesar Ward

Ceasar was a bookseller & Publicist in partnership with his brother in law Richard Chandler
He had addresses in London York and Scarborough

He went bankrupt and after spent most of his time in York

When he died (burial 27 April 1759 York) he left £200 to be shared among his creditors - children mentioned in his will were Anne, Isabella, Mary (married George peacock), Charles Robert, & Sarah £5 was left to son William (who had apparantly had money from his father and was extravagant)

Is this your Ceasar?

The 1731 Marriage is on FreeREG, Caesar was of Allbrington Parish at time of Marriage.
(Albrighton, Shropshire?)
It does not state if he was Widowed.
Married by Licence.

FreeREG also has;
MARY Ward Baptised 30 April 1732, St Leonard, Bilston, Staffs to CAESAR/MARY
WILLIAM Ward Baptised same Church, 14 March 1739 to CESAR/MARY

ANNE Ward buried 27 Dec 1729, Wife of Caesar, St Michael & All Angels, Tettenhall
Notes; Husbands name spelt Cesar in record.

F/S has these Children in Yorkshire;
CECILLIA, 17 Sept 1736, Father Casar
ANNE, 1 Dec 1738, Father Ceesar
MARY, 27 June 1740, died 2 Aug 1741, Father Cesar
CEESAR. 4 Dec 1741, Father Ceesar
FRANCIS, 9 April 1747, Father Ceesar
ISABELLA, 19 Oct 1750, died 8 Feb 1764, Father Ceesar
CHARLES ROBERT, 14 Nov 1751, died 16 Oct 1765, Father Ceesar
MARY, 4 Oct 1753, Father Ceesar
SARAH, 25 Dec 1757 (birth 14 March 1756), Father Cesar
HONOR, 25 Dec 1757 (birth 27 Nov 1757), Father Cesar

Only ISABELLA has Mothers name listed as ANNE

EDIT, Found a GEORGE 5 June 1745 Yorks to Ceesar/Anne, buried 1 Oct 1745

*He was buried at St Martin's, Coney Street, York, on 27 April 1759. Will Prob Reg 103/264 written 3rd Oct 1756 mentioning children Anne, Isabella, Mary, Charles Robert and Sarah, with friends Richard Farroz, Francis Drake & John Stow of York and Judith Chandler of Nottingham. Codecil of 22nd April 1759 makes special bequests to Anne and Honor and the remainder to his other children.*

So some confusion here whether he married 2/3/times?
Or a few Ceasars around?

Thank you both for your information.
I do not think that the first reply relates to my Caesar but I will check out the 2nd reply.
Thank you again for your time and help

I have checked out these two Caesar people and do not think they belong to me. My Caesar had a second wife, Mary, who was buried in 1760 at Bilston.
Unless he led a double life I do not think he was at York
Thanks again for your help and time
