Do you know what part of Ireland they came from?
I am a Byrne and I have infomation on some of my family
back to the early 1800īs. I have anecdotal information of
some of my family going to Liverpool.

Hi, it just says Ireland on the 1841 census for the whole family, but on the 1851 one for James & Elizabeth it looks like it reads Wexford. As i said it looks like Edward denied being Irish probably to further his career.

Sorry but my Byrne family are from further north in Co.Louth.
I wish you luck. Take note that Wexford and neighbouring county
Wicklow is the home of the Byrne clan and to this day is heavily
populated by people of that surname.

It does say Wexford and that surname is common in that part of Ireland:-

http://www.irishtimes.com/ancestor/surname/index.cfm?fuseaction=History&Surname=Byrne&UserID=

They were lodging with a Thomas French a printer originally rom Bristol in 1851. Thomas French is at 18a Islington in Gore's Directory 1853. Also listed for that address is Solomon Parkinson. Number 18 itself in 1853 has John Dear, he was a grocer at another address in Islington on the 1851 Census. Perhaps they were no longer lodging there by 1853?

Thank you, i wonder if that was a typo of sorts on his Masters certificate listing 18 rather than 18a? Of course they may not be his parents & a massive coincidence but i'm leaning towards it being them. Thank you for looking. Think i may never solve this mystery!
