Margaret Macdonell

Hello  I am looking for information for my great grandmother ,Margaret Macdonell . Not entirely sure if that is the correct spelling . She was born in England Aug 11 1893 immigrated to Canada in 1919 , died Feb 1943 in British Columbia Canada . She married Ronald Kennedy , I believe in England as he was there during the war . again not sure . I am looking for info on her mother and father. I have been told that her mother passed away when she was young . My grandma very rarely talked of her family    Thank you in advance for any help  Lisa

Hi Lisa,

I can't see a marriage in England but in Scotland there is a match showing Ronald KENNEDY and Margaret MACDONELL   married in 1919, district of Cannich in Inverness.

If you register with ScotlandsPeople and purchase some credits you can view the marriage certificate which will give you the names of both sets of parents as well as their father's occupations.  You can then look for them on the 1911 and 1901 census returns which is also available on ScotlandsPeople.

Her death certificate gives birth as 11 Aug.1892 (born London, England), parents John McDonnell (born Scotland) & Elizabeth Tanner (born England).

Can't see Margaret & Ronald's marriage in England at the moment but this is a possible match for her parents-
