If he was born in 1926 but John & Edith married in 1931, he may be registered just with the surname Evans, not Powell.

Is there any chance Edith Annie Evans was married to someone else before she married John Powell?

Thank you for all your help does anyone no were Alan evans powell was born?

There may be a problem here. If you look at Sandra's earlier post, Alan Evans Powell was born 6 years before Edith and John's marriage. The chances are that he wasn't John's son and was registered as Alan Evans, but took the name of Powell after his mother married John.

However, I can't find a birth under either name in Sunderland in 1926.

I wondered if that was her married name, but there is an Edith Annie Evans birth 1905 in Easington which fits with the certificate that wannywoo has.

Alan's date of birth might have been 21 February 1926, in which case there's this entry

Mar 1926
Evans    Alan, mmn   Evans, Marylebone 1a 713

Maybe Edith was 'in service' in London or she could have been sent away from home to have her baby as an un-married mother.

I would buy a copy of the marriage certificate for John Baden Powell and Edith Annie Evans, then you'll know exactly who her father was.

There are a few Edith Annie Evans in the birth index and you only have a date of birth from her death entry. That date might not be right.

who are her parents on the birth certificate?

Have you found the family on the 1911 census?

We can't do look-ups here for the 1911 census but you can post all the details from that census as it is your family.
