She could have gone under Hannah which would answer why the marriage record shows "H"

If you look at the probate record I gave for John Baden Powell on the other thread, it gives his widow as Edith Hannah Powell.

Sorry - Just realised this is the wrong person!!

Hi this confuses me my dad said she always called herself edith annie but her death cert has hannah but her birth says annie

i do no my grandma edith had a brother called uncle alby think it may be albert my dad said they came from wales looking for work i have traced them to haswell still using edith hannah but when birth cert came says edith annie evans 20/04/1905 and she did die 1976

she was born edith evans but married my grandad john badden powe so would then be edith powell

Yes it is the correct person - I quoted the maiden name because that is how the poster was referring to her -
to be perfectly correct she was Edith Annie Powell.
