Jamjar, I checked the names in Trish's post are all no longer with us, one dying in 2012 and the other in 1992. ;)

That's good.

And the possible emigrating pair that you have copied to your post, are they also deceased?

wow!!  Thank you so much everyone!

Just to confirm - everyone I listed is sadly no longer alive.  I can't believe I posted my own fathers birthdate incorrectly!
I am aware that my paternal grandmother may be a Sladden rather than Crawford.  We rarely saw my fathers side of the family but I remember the name Crawford but had not ever heard of Sladden.
As far as I know none are from Thanet but from Brighton.
I have been using the website Find My Past and on both Raymond (it is def Raymond and not Ronald Bunch) their mothers maiden name is listed as Sladden but on my fathers birth certificate it says Crawford.  What I want to do it follow the Frank Bunch line for the time being, so thank you so much for the further information.  I hope I get competent enough to help someone else out later on!

It looks to me like 2 separate families?

Edward Bunch married Joyce A Sladden in Thanet Registration District, December qtr 1945
They had 3 children:
Violet J Sladden
September qtr 1940, but re-registered as Violet Bunch September qtr 1952
Raymond C
       September qtr 1946
Derek E
       September qtr 1947

Harold E Bunch married Lily L P Crawford in Steyning Registration District, December qtr 1934
They appear to have had 7 children:
Peter F
       March qtr 1935, Brighton RD
Derek E
June qtr 1936, Hove RD - died same qtr
David G E
       September qtr 1937, Hove RD
Ronald E
       September qtr 1939, Worthing RD
Keith M
       June qtr 1943, Hove RD
Gerald P
       June qtr 1944, Worthing RD
Ann
September qtr 1948, Surrey North East RD

Are fathers Harold E and Edward one and the same person?
Was there a divorce?

Thank you KGarrad for the extra info.
What I do know is the my father Peter F, Raymond, Derek, Violet and David G all grew up together in Brighton.  However several years back my father found he had a sister he had not been told about called Ann.  He always said his father was called Frank Bunch and his mother was Joyce.

I don't know any of the other people listed!

As I am very new to all of this could I ask how you found the information?  Where are the best places to look?
Thanks again

Karen

I just used www.freebmd.org.uk.
This is a volunteer transcription of the Civil (GRO) Birth, Marriage and Death Indexes.

Coverage of Births is 100% up to the end of 1962, and almost 100% up to the end of 1975.
Coverage of Marriages is similar.
Deaths has 100% coverage to the middle of 1974.

As has been said before, can you confirm Peter's father's name as stated on either his Birth or Marriage Certificates?
It would appear that it was his grandfather that was named Frank?! :-\

A little bit more -
I found a marriage certificate stating that Edward H Bunch married Joyce A Sladden in 1945, in Thanet.

I will check out freebmd.

Thanks once again.
