Charles Hill

Good morning all, I'm looking into a tree for a friend who's father was Charles Hill. I know nothing else about him other than he was born abt 1883 in England and married Violet Rose Everett in 1926 in Woolwich. He died in 1940 in England. Violet had been married previously to Alfred Mace. I would be so grateful for any information. Thank-you.

Hi Sandie,

I think this will be one of those cases where the marriage certificate is essential - there is really no way to determine which Charles Hill he is without knowing his father's name from the marriage certificate.

I also can't see an appropriate death in England in 1940 that corresponds to an 1883 birthdate. Where exactly did he die?

The only marriage in 1926 at Woolwich for a Charles Hill I can see is this one

March qtr 1926 
Charles Hill (spouse  Mace)   
Violet R Mace (spouse    Hill)
Woolwich    1d   1448


Presumably an earlier marriage for Violet
September qtr 1916
Violet R Everett    (spouse Mace)   
Alfred Mace (spouse  Everett)
 W.Ham    4a   326

To save wasting anyone's time, the question suggests that Sandie already has the FreeBMD information about the marriage, and details about Violet. She is looking for information about Charles Hill.

36 Crescent Road in 1936 -
114 Brewer Street in 1937 -
85 Woodhurst Road in 1938 -
71 Barnfield Road in 1939.
