Maria Polino                 born 1879 Brighton  (birth cert. shows born at the workhouse) but when birth cert. was registered lived on Chesterfield St.

my grandmother was born in Dec. 1881, and birth cert. shows address of 39 Chesterfield St.

did find an 1881 census for the common boarding house name spelled John Pellin and Andonia Pellin, but no listing for child Maria

Your grandmother was born December 1881

If so - she won't appear in the 1881 census as it was taken in April.

This is what I have from the 1891 census, my grandmother was Rosa on her birth cert. Rosie on here, Maria was first born also called Mary in this census May.

Sorry for confusion, We are looking for 1881 census for Maria (Mary or May) Polino.  She was born in 1879, so should be on there with her parents Giovanno & Antonia

Have you seen John Pellin, 39, lodger, street musician, born Rome Italy and Andonia 24 his wife in Hastings? age difference matches 1891 census.

No Maria though

Yes I have that 1881 census, but no listing for Maria, so was trying to see if there was another one she might be listed on. Or maybe we have the wrong one.
Just wondering what happened to her.

Just stating that the birth is for Maria Pelino on free bmd. December quarter 1879 Brighton.
