Stanley PICKUP, 1912-1995

Hi everyone,

Can anyone find anything on Stanley PICKUP?

He was the son of James Arthur PICKUP and Mary GASKELL, and might have been born at Pahiatua (like his older sister Alice, born 1907) or in Wellington.

He is mentioned in his father's 1943 death notice:

Evening Post, 28 June 1943, Page 1.
DEATHS.
PICKUP.- At Wellington, on June 28, 1943. James PICKUP, dearly-beloved husband of Mary and loving father of Alice and Stan; aged 63 years.

I can't see a marriage for him, and although I have discovered a New Zealand death on 17 June 1995, I can't find out where he died or where he was interred/cremated.

I don't need any information about Alice PICKUP, thank you.

ADDENDUM: I've just found an entry on the Kiwi Index, a newspaper death notice for a 'Stanley PICKUP senior' at Tauranga. The death date matches.

Going to the district council cemetery search portal I see that he was cremated at Pye's Pa.

But can anyone help with electoral roll information or find a marriage or children?

Clearly if he was a 'senior' there must have been a 'Stanley junior', and that implies he was married.

Stanley PICKUP married a Maureen MEACHEN in 1938, from the NZSG Marriage CD. She appears to have died in 2000.

My apologies, Eyesee, I've gone though the Kiwi Index twice and didn't see the marriage. Didn't think to try the Marriage CD.

1935  Wellington Suburbs living with Mum, Dad, and Sister at 7 Norfolk St, he is an Linotype Operator

1946/1949/1954/1957  Onslow, Wellington living with wife Maureen at 75 Ranui Terrace, Khandallah, still a Linotype Operator

1963/1969 Karori still at 75 Ranui Terrace, and same occupation, but is down as Stanley Pickup Snr

From 1969 there is a Stanley Pickup in the Napier area, then in 1981 shown as Stanley Pickup Jnr.  Can't put the wife's name up as still living.

That could be the son Janette has posted in PP.
