Mary Diamond and William Manwaring
« on: Friday 15 May 15 10:49 BST (UK) »
I have come across 2 indexes for the marriage of a Mary Diamond to a William Manwaring:

1) in Tyler Index: Rochester 5 Nov 1828
2) in England Marriages 1538-1973 Brenchley 10 Nov 1829

The Tyler Index entry does not have the location on it but the preceding page has entries for Lamberhurst which is close to Brenchley.

Is it possible that these two indexes are for the same two people.

Was there any tradition of, or other reason for "marrying twice".
How could I check this out further?

Might one of them be marriage banns as opposed to the actual wedding?

I honestly don't know, but is there not some sort of time limit between Banns being read and the marriage taking place?

The Brenchley, Kent 1829 date comes up on familysearch.

The link below is for that event in the Parish Registers for Brenchley, Kent, England, held at Kent Archives Office, Maidstone

Follow the contact info to see about getting a copy of the marriage.

Salute,
Janelle

It may be Lamberhurst only had a Chapel & the marriage was entered into the Church register a year later.
There may be other info in the Church register relating to it being an earlier marriage.
