finding death records - SMITH, HOWARTH
« on: Saturday 16 May 15 17:36 BST (UK) »
I have found most deaths easily, however two have me defeated.  Can anyone suggest why i cannot find deaths for Violet SMITH (between 1901 cenusin Nelson and 1909 when her husband remarried) or her mother, Sarah HOWARTH  Rochdale (between 1891 census and 1911).  Dont tell me they left their families and emigrated....the one place i havent looked.

Sarah HOWARTH was born Sarah Lord to Richard and Sarah Ann HALSTEAD in 1850.  She married Chareles HOWARTH in 1880 at Rochdale.....he in 1901 with Violets husband and two of the children

Violet nee Lord b 1787 Ashton under Lyne Mossley rd married Gilbert Christopher SMITH Burnley in 1895

I have the whereabouts of the men and chn in 1911 but. Not their wives

Violet LORD married SMITH in 1894.  I don't think she was born in 1787, was it 1878?

I can't see Violet in 1901, do you have reference numbers for that?

Sarah HOWARTH  Rochdale (between 1891 census and 1911).

Charles HOWARTH is a widower in 1901, so Sarah has died before then.

Hi if I have correct 1901 with Gilbert Smith Married aged 28 b Blackburn with 2 children George aged 6 b Rochdale and Arthur 4 b Heywood, along with a widowed Charlie Howarth 63 Father in Law b Rochdale and Ethel Howarth 11 Sister in Law b Rochdale
Residing at 6, Baxters Place, Rochdale.
Census Ref RG13/3836/107/55

Have been wondering who this Gilbert Smith aged 1 b Heywood is living with in 1911, and when/where these two got married?

Hampson Smith 30 occ Cotton Weaver b Bury
Violet 24 b Ashton under Lyne
Gilbert 1 b Heywood
Residing at 70, Water Street, Nelson
Census Ref RG13/3882/108/30

EDIT

OK presume their is a link between Gilbert C and Hampson Seddon, could be Hampson married Mary Smith in 1889 Bury.

Mary Smith 49 Widow b Scotland
Gilbert C Smith 17 occ Weaver b Blackburn
Hampson Seddon 21 Lodger b Elton
Mary Seddon 20 Lodger b Kirkham
Residing at Pennington Street, Bury
Census Ref RG12/3129/72/31

PS who did Hampson marry in 1905, FindMyPast say Grace Ellen Bridge, I think she married the Albert Lang?

OK A widowed Hampson Seddon married an Elizabeth Musgrave from Familysearch
Pelly/Pelley/Kingsbury/Challis/Nalder/Rochester/Raydenbow

All the right family , yes

Gilbert chirstopher SMITH and Mary Seddon are brother and sister.

george 6 in 1901 is my grandad and hampson did run off with violet taking baby Gilbert  (named for his dad but was it his dad...she took him cos he was hampsons or cos she was breastfeeding?????)  he is back with his dad in 1911 and she has vanished and hampson has married again despite mary smith seddon still being alive (i have been in touch with his great granddaughter)

i must assume violet died under 25 and that hampson put gilbert into care (cos Gilbert's grandson told me he had been told Gilbert had been in care as  a baby)  But i cannot find this death....Hampsons great granddaughter said she wouldnt be surprised if he murdered her and put her in the garden....excavate 70 Water Street in nelson????

Meanwhile her mother has vanished with the three Sarah deaths not quite fitting....Charles her husband but not violet's father, died in 1908.

Somehow i cant let it go>>>>>have cchased Hampson and got to his descendant....but dead end with Ethel Maud who i think married John Martin in 1909

No, I didnt have that....have not looked in Cheshire records......only Ashton and Rochdale.....Fabulous..How did you know to look there???

Father named as George???  she did call her first baby George!  the usual....  who was George my new question.....  I have asked how to find out who lived at mossley road in 1878 and a response gave me people who lived there in 1881 census....

I hope i am not boring you with this...it has teased me since my mother died in 2002 and i found i knew so little about this family as grandad would not have his mother's name mentioned!
