Hi Rose99.

I wonder if that could be him ? I also have some details from Family Search on him, and it says his wife was Mary Anne. I found this info this morning, which lists children born in London, too....one of them being Honora Hurley which is the name of my GrT-grt grandmother.

How does one be really sure it is him ?
Thank you for helping me 👍

The 1871 one I've found says:

Gas Court 6a (continued)
Cornelius Hurley, 40, Tailor, b. Ireland (no detail :( )
Mary Ann Hurley, 38, wife, Tailoress, b. Ireland (no detail ::( )
Robert Hurley, 14, Tailor, b. London, Middlesex
Mary Ann Hurley, 10, scholar, b. - ditto-
John Hurley, 7, scholar, b. -ditto-
Ellen Hurley, 5, scholar, b. -ditto-
Honora Hurley, 2, b. -ditto-
Isabella Hurley, 6mths, b. -ditto-

STG

Edited - because first I'd said it was 1881, but then realised it was 1871.

The 1871 which ties in with yours & STG's 1881
https://familysearch.org/ark:/61903/1:1:VRJS-974

I thought your Honora was born earlier than this.

Sorry, got to go out now dog wants walking  ::)

I've checked on births and the only really likely one is:

Honora HURLEY
St Pancras Registration District
Q1 1868, vol 1b, page 68.

Thanks STG.
My Honora was born in 1855, and as Rosie99 says above, if that is her mentioned in the 1871 census, there it can't be her as she was only two years old when that census was done....meaning she was born in 1869.

I have a death memorial card, which I posted the other day, for a Catherine Hurley, buried in Kensal Green cemetery in London, born 1834 and died in 1884. Her yob and age tie up with Cornelius' and I wonder if she wasn't his wife ?

I'm stumped then.

How do you know Cornelius was a tailor b. Ireland?
