hi am trying to research my family  am intrested in purdons who know anything about ireland my family were in urney strabane in co tyrone

my family came from urney in strabane i now live in larne  my great great grandfather was called  james purdon and was married to elizabeth harvey they had 9 children   william  1834  rebecca 1825 james 1829 john 1831 jane 1834 joseph 1836 hes my relation   hugh1839 david 1842 alexander 1849  i am trying to find out if james at the head of the tree father was a john but cant find any recorda of him  thee is a john in flaxgrowers list 1796 that might b him  also  there was a daniel in the muster rolls of 1631  there is also a james a baker in castlefin in 1680 ish        also  letitia purdon who sailed on a ship called tthe   agenora in 1845   also a james in 1834  on a ship called ceylon i think they landered at philadelphia  thankyou for contacting me

According to his headstone, John Purdon was born c1796 which means that it'll very difficult to find records to confirm his parents' names of other details further back.

You might be able to find a bit more detail on the family once you have the exact townland.
