Can anybody explain the connection between Jamaica and Yorkshire (and surrounding areas) during the 1700's? I am finding relatives that seemed to go back and forth...

Might I suggest sugar plantations. Huge investment in land in WI during that time, with large profits from raw sugar, rum ... and, of course, slaves.

The monied Yorkshire families would have known a good investment when they saw it.
