Date for Mum & Baby
« on: Friday 22 May 15 10:23 BST (UK) »
I'm hoping someone can date this photo - my father thought it was him & his mum, taken in 1923.
I don't have the original, but it was sepia.
Have tried several times to attach, so hope it works this time (my first foray into photos!0
Thankyou, Anne

A lot earlier than 1923 I  think, but I will leave it to the experts to see ifI am right and
to explain.

Hi Anneaki,

RootsChat images have to have unique filenames, you will find that "Mum&baby" "myfamily"  etc will have already been used by another member. You are best where known adding names as titles with numbers added if there are a few of them ;)

Regards

Sarah

Thankyou! Sarah - I will remember that for next time - I was having problems getting it to the right size, but worked it out eventually!
Carol & Yvonne, the restores look great, thank you!
Ruskie, Cyanda, & Jim1 thankyou for the dates - I'm sad that it's not my Dad, but the lady's dress had me questioning 1923.
It was obviously an important photo, the only other one of Dad is when he's about five, dressed up in a kilt outfit - maybe for his mum's funeral.
I'm thinking maybe it is his mum with her first child, Lily, born in 1910. Dad was number six, so probably not much money around for a fancy photo! I know with my own three kids, I have heaps of photos of the oldest, & hardly any of the youngest!
So, can anyone guess at Mum's age, & can you tell anything about the baby's gender from the outfit?
Thanks again for your help  :D Anne

It's impossible to say if it's a boy or girl. Mom looks to be in her mid 20's.
