Looking for Frank Alexander In Australia
« on: Tuesday 26 May 15 00:45 BST (UK) »
Hi everyone,

I am new to rootschat. I have been looking for Frank Alexander for a number of years now. I have information on h is parents, two wives two brothers, a sister war records seven of his children. What I am actually after is where he died or is buried. He was born in Boonah Qld Australia and spent his life in the Brisbane areas and around the Redcliffe areas of Qld. His first wife was Gladys Irene(formerly Eileen) bride and second wife Phyllis Edna Girdwood. I am really only interested in finding his death date to be able to purchase a certificate as I have a lot of other information, except the name of his other child to his first wife. Two names I have are Patricia and GRaham.
Hopefully someone can give me some help. Feel free to ask me any questions.

Yes, Welcome Nerida,

May I ask about your chap's war records.  Which war did he serve in?   You see, I am having similar problems to you.  I cannot find his death.   Is it possible that he is still alive?

Cheers,  JM

Hi Ros,

Frank was in ww11 though never actually served he had a few problems. From certificates I have he was born sometime between 1906-1909 on the 17th July.
What is the name of the chap you are searching for? Would it be the same guy?

Hi Nerida,

 ;D  Welcome to RootsChat   ;D

As you probably know, publically available death records in Queensland are only available to 1985 and are closed for 30 years, so if his death occurred after 1985 you will not be permitted to purchase a copy of the cert until 30 years after the death year.

If you know where he was living in later life then you would need to check with the cemeteries in the area.  I have looked at Moreton Bay, Brisbane and the Mt Thompson crematorium without success.  Phyllis died in 1979 in the Brisbane area, do you know where she was buried/cremated?

If he was still supporting his children when he enlisted they should be recorded on his enlistment papers in 1940.

Hopefully someone in the family will come across your post and be able to help.  If Frank's two children are still living you will need to delete their names from your post as it is against RootsChat policy to discuss living people.

Debra  :)

I can see that the National Archives of Australia have not digitised his war records.  The index has his year of birth as 1908.

There are various reasons for records not being digitised, but with WWII army records, the most obvious reasons are:

a) no one has paid for these to be digitised
b) if these have been requested to be digitised, then the person requesting the digitisation has NOT been able to confirm that the person of interest is no longer living

Cheers,  JM  :)

Hi Debra,

Yeah I knew that about the 30 year thing. I had searched the qld bdm and the kind lady at the court house where I live had asked them if there was any record of my Frank being buried in Qld with no luck meaning he is not registered to being buried in Qld. Had tried the same for nsw no luck. Grandma is cremated at the Albany Creek crematorium.
Cheers Nerida
