Looking for a Ruby Forbes
« on: Tuesday 02 June 15 23:45 BST (UK) »
I am trying to find some information on Rebbecca (Ruby Forbes) born in Dunnamanagh Tyrone on 13/10/1908.  The only information I have been able to source is on the Irish census 1911.
I think she left Ireland possibly around 1944ish to start a new life in England.
I have some background on her mother and father and her sister Maggie but it's Ruby that I would like more information on.
If anyone can help I'd be delighted

Many thanks
Liz

Hi thank you for replying and your welcome.
Everything about Ruby is very vague but we think she may have married a man called Gray/Grey
Sorry I don't have any more information :-(

Hi Folks thank you for the replies, I'm delighted with your finds as this person may be my grandmother.
I'm a complete amateur to all this and possibly a bit stupid, but what is the best way to find out if this is the Rebecca (Ruby) I am looking for.

Ruby gave birth to my Mum in Belfast in 1929, mum had no contact with her but did meet her once around the age of 14, they were to meet up again but that never happened and the last Mum heard she had moved to England, we don't know if she married here or there.

She is on mum's birth certificate as Ruby and any information we have about her always mentions the name Ruby until we found her birth records and discovered her name was actually Rebecca.  As far as we know she did go on to have further children as Mum recalls she was pregnant when they met but can't recall if she was married.  There was also some talk that her husband/partner was in the army.

I may, or may not, be onto something about Rebecca/Ruby in Ireland (in Ulster Ruby is a nickname for Rebecca) but need to finish cross-checking my findings.

Do you know the name (and occupation) of Ruby's father?
Do you have an address for her (or where your mother was born) in Belfast?

For reference here's Ruby with mother, sister, etc. in 1911-

and Dunn family in 1901-
