looking for a Betsy: Bland/ Wilson/ Thorne
« on: Wednesday 03 June 15 09:22 BST (UK) »
in my family home, we have a piece of embroidery from Betsy Bland Wilson Thorne created  when she was 8 years old hanging on our wall. she is related to my mothers family the Lloyd's somehow but I don't know the connection.

I have tried lots of combinations of her last name and also her full name but sadly no results on the census. I would be grateful for any information regarding this as I would be able to solve this mystery that has puzzled me for 10 years now as to who is 8 year old was

Is there any clue to where Betsy might have lived and the date of the needlework? if not, where was your Lloyd family from?
Away sorting out DNA matches... I may be gone for some time many years!

the only clue's I have is the frame is from the company: C wright and son in oxford and the date that is written on the back is 1819 and that according to family history she married a man called Charles Milton but i can't confirm that as it is just through word and mouth and unfortunately I don't know the origins of were the Lloyd's are from.

Could the date on the back read 1879 rather than 1819? There's a Betsey Bland WILSON born 1871 in Goole to a Joseph and Elizabeth who seems to go on to marry a Charles William MILTON.

:) :) Easy mistake to make.  You're lucky to have such a lovely heirloom.
