Hi Tazzie, I have Elizabeth Flooks of Newport Pagnell in my tree.
Elizabeth was born 17 May 1828 and married my Grt Grandfather Thomas Barker on 2 Nov. 1846.
They moved from Newport Pagnell to West Bromwich in 1847.
Any connections?
Dennis Barker
Barker, Barnes, Burton, Flooks.

Hi Tazzie

I have got the Chearsley parish registers with many entries for Walker - have you got these?

Hi Denyons
So far I havent found a link with that spelling. My main search area is Stewkley where we have Foocks (1851)
 Foolks(1881) Foulkes(1901).
Also Foolks (1851) born Bletchley. Lots of alternative spellings appear around the area Bow Brickhill- Stony Stratford-Fenny Stratford(now all part of Milton Keynes where I now live).
If I find anymore I will let you know
Thanks

Hi Julie
I have got a copy of them and can go back as far as Francis Walker who married his second wife Susanna Wheeler in the village in 1790. they are grt grt grtgrt grandparents.Francis was there in 1780 when he married his first wife but before that so far is a blank. The only earlier entry I could find was a marriage in 1707 Thomas Walker of Nether Winchinton but thats a big gap but the village is close enough so I might have to change my search.
         Thanks
 Tazzie

Surnames - Green and Fooks
« Reply #5 on: Monday 22 November 10 16:20 GMT (UK) »
Hi Tazzie

my mother has just given me a whole load of old Victorian photographs of her family and I've just spent an idle hour at work googling names and places. I think given some of the names you list that we might be related? My great grandparents were George Foulkes (could be Fookes) Taylor of Husborne Crawley and Louisa Green of Colmworth in Beds. They were married in the 1880's and had three children including my grandmother, Florence Emma Taylor. Any connection?!My Mum does have a Green family bible which has a family tree in it that goes back some way from Colmworth.  I think there is also some connection to a Mill and lots of pictures of lace makers!

Hi SarahSib .

Welcome to Rootschat.  :)

Tazzie hasn't been on Rootschat since August ( I hope she is okay).

Both of us are related to quite a few Husborne Crawley families.

The middle name would be Fookes as that is a surname of the village.

I will e-mail Tazzie to let her know in case she doesn't see the post.

thanks for the reply - I can see Taylor & Green on the bottom of your answer so perhaps we are related as well at a wild guess??! My grandfathers family of Taylor ( and I guess Fookes given it was his middle name) were Husborne Crawley and the Green connection is from Colmworth.

anyway - if by chance we are related if you do have any information on the family I'd love to see it. As you can see I'm new to all this and am stabbing in the dark a wee bit!

  Hello Sarah...

Sorry for my absence but I am back now.... that sounds more like a threat doesn't it?! Still my sense of humour is what has kept me sane lately.

Ok Foulkes family.  Mine on hubbies side are Stewkley from the 1841 census but I can pin William Foulkes..various spellings ... down to Bletchley bap @ 1786 to an Elizabeth Fooks...no father mentioned. The name appears in various spellings and it is possible they all are connected due to the area in which the name appears.... in the villages around Milton Keynes.
Many variants make it hard to get that connection
My Green Line is also within this area Wavendon /Woburn /Aspley Guise but not out to Colmworth.
