Richard Hughes, Anglesea
« on: Saturday 06 June 15 22:26 BST (UK) »
I am trying to find a birth or baptism record for my 3x greatgrandfather Richard Hughes.  Richard was born in Llanbadrig in 1816 and his parents were David Hughes and Ann Owen.  Sadly all very widely used names.  I have a marriage cert for Richard and Mary for 1842 but I am having problems with any information earlier than that.

Any help or guidance would be wonderful.

Regards to all.

On the marriage cert what is the father's occupation?

Who were witnesses???

Do you have Richard and Mary on any census ??

Where did you find Richard's p.o.b.???

Hi Suzard, thank you for replying so quickly.  The marriage for Richard Hughes and Mary Roberts was held at (I think) Pawt Colly, Llanbadrick.  Richard was a Carpenter and the witnesses were (I think) brother Owen Hughes and William Williams.  Richard's father, David Hughes was a Tailor.  Mary's father was Robert Roberts, a farmer.  Richard and Mary can be found on the 1851 census with 3 children now living in Liverpool, Toxteth Park.

Hope you can help.

Kind regards

Syl

Just a word of caution with FindMyPast and Llanbadrig parish records. Quite a number of the records for Llanbadrig are incorrect. Make sure it is Llanbadrig and not Llanbedrgoch which is a parish on the east side of Anglesey near Pentraeth.

Annoyingly I have been caught out a couple of times, so be certain its the right one before you use your credits.

Hi,

I have a Gwynedd FHS booklet for births and baptisms pre 1837 for the Calvanistic Methodists in Anglesey, and whilst there is no sign of Richard Hughes at Llanbadrig (Capel Bethlehem) it does shows a baptism of an Owen Hughes on 23 August 1819 - parents David (a tailor) and Anne Owen. Address shown as Ty Newydd Garregcefn. Possibly your Richards brother?

David's parish is Llanbadrig; Anne's is Llanallgo.
