Maiden Lane, Liverpool (Clubmoor) - trying to determine property age...

Hi,

I wonder if anyone can help?

I am trying to find out when the houses on Maiden Lane, Clubmoor (L13) were constructed, in particular, the run of houses between Finvoy Road and Knocklaid Road (OS E338100 N383205)

From available historic maps I have been able to narrow it down to sometime between 1905 and 1925, as the later map shows a significant increase in property development compared to the much more rural nature of the 1905 map, and features the block of houses in question.

Any information would be greatly appreciated!

There doesn't appear to be an online map for the late 10s early 20s. You might be able to establish a closer date of construction through looking for the first appearance of these houses on the electoral rolls or directories at Liverpool Record Office.

I've just bitten the bullet and for £3 downloaded a copy of the Title Deeds for the property I'm interested in and it says that the land was sold to the developer in 1907.

I trying to link a WW1 death penny that was found in the house when my parents renovated it in the mid-1970's.

Have located a likely candidate on the Commonwealth War Graves Commission website who was killed in France, 1916 - his next of kin (father) stated as living half a mile or so away at the time they were arranging headstones etc.

Only two soldiers with the same name from Liverpool listed on CWGC it would seem.

Bit of a needle in a haystack exercise but I'm going to see if I can succeed.

I have yes, the house was inhabited by an elderly retired couple in 1911.

Having just checked, the elderly gent passed away the following year in 1912 and there's a probable match within the deaths for his wife in 1921.
