I wonder if he's this one in 1871:
RG10; Piece: 3027; Folio: 111; Page: 6
It looks like the enumerator has crossed out all of the POB's & replaced them with Kingswinford. In this case what's crossed out is Brierley Hill.

This is that family in 1861 - maybe to eliminate them :-\

RG9/   2072 f5 p4
all born Kingswinford
Mary Beddall   61
William Cook   40 Son
John Beddall   21 Son
Sarah Beddall   19 Dtr
Emma Beddall   18 Dtr

and possible marriage for daughter Sarah from freebmd
June qtr 1865
Beddall    Sarah
Cartwright    David
Dudley    6c   123

https://familysearch.org/ark:/61903/1:1:NX8N-QYY

It looks as though Samuel Cartwright could be grandfather not father  :-\

I've found David living with Mary Beddall and William Cook in 1871. It states Mary as head and David as grandson

Marriage
Jun 1861 Stourbridge 6c 210
CARTWRIGHT Samuel
Female names on same page
Ann CARNNIDGE
Lucy WATSON

Doesn't give ages, father's names or occupations but Samuel married Lucy Watson or Harvey
30 Jun 1861 Old Swinford,Worcester,England
https://familysearch.org/ark:/61903/1:1:NV4H-Y97

there are two deaths in Stourbridge

Mar 1865 Stourbridge
Lucy Cartwright
Samuel Cartwright

unfortunately no ages are given to indicate if they are adult or children

What names did David & Louisa give to their children? - sometimes there are naming patterns

Trying to see if I can eliminate the above couple

Lucy  was married before to a George Watson hence the two surnames on her marriage to Samuel
Cartwright

Lucy Harvey to George Watson 07 Apr 1856 Old Swinford,Worcester
https://familysearch.org/ark:/61903/1:1:NV4D-VJ2

possible  Watson child parents named George & Lucy

Eliza 1860 Clent Worcestershire

Looks as if you can eliminate Lucy Harvey/Watson/Cartwright

1851 census Worcestershire
Harvey   Lucy dau.    c. 1828   23      Bellbroughton Worcestershire

Lucy Harvey ch 1828 Belbroughton Worcester dau Joseph & Elizabeth
https://familysearch.org/ark:/61903/1:1:J37R-YMN

maybe an error with her age

1861 census Worcestershire
Cartwright   Lucy   c. 1818   43      Belbroughton Worcestershire

1871 census  Head of house transcribed as Earl Cartwright  ???
https://familysearch.org/ark:/61903/1:1:V5TD-HQ5
Lucy 42 (1829), Ester 18, William 16, ELIZA WATSON 12 (1860), George 7, Cleo 5, Jane 3 & Lucy Cartwright 1

Oh no! I've just looked at the one I think you've listed, Jim, which states David Cartwright as an orphan, that's proper choked me up. Is there anyway I can find out for definite?

If you are referring to this one it states Grandson, not orphan  ;D

He may only have been staying overnight. An appearance on census at an address does not always mean that is where they live.  :-\
