No I found one in 1871 which stated David as an inmate, orphan aged 10 but then I found another one in 1871 living with Mary Beddoe and William Cook where David is listed as Mary's grandson

https://familysearch.org/ark:/61903/1:1:V5R1-35M

Amended

Was just going to post marriage info. David Cartwright to Sarah Beddall which probably relates to the David listed below on 1871c  - see Rosie has beaten me too it  :)

There’s this 1871 entry
https://familysearch.org/ark:/61903/1:1:V5TZ-5SH
David Cartwright grandson age 10 Kingswinford

These were two entries from family search I posted earlier one David as grandson & one as an inmate

On the 1871 census where David is listed with Mary Beddall it's states his POB as Brockmoor so I looked at the 1861 census and found this David with his parents David and Mary POB also Brockmoor but the one where he is listed as an orphan it states his POB as Brierley Hill which is making me think this could be my David (unfortunately :( )

I wonder if this might be the David Cartwright (gdson) from 1871 census on
1881 census https://familysearch.org/ark:/61903/1:1:X3N6-JFZ

Here David is noted a Nephew to Sarah Cartwright,  also with them is a William Cook age 60 Kingwinford Ha (half) brother may just be a coincidence but there was also a William Cook on 1871 census son of Mary Beddall

No it can't be him in the 1881 census because I've got him living with Louisa Maggs (before they married) and Louisa's Uncle and Aunt (William and Ruth Purchase) in 1881

That is good because it discounts the one who is grandson of Mary Beddall  ;D

When did your David Cartwright die?

There’s this death entry
David Cartwright Dec 1901 age 38 born c1863
https://familysearch.org/ark:/61903/1:1:2NPX-6MB

The district Stourbridge spans the boundaries of the counties of Shropshire, Staffordshire, West Midlands and Worcestershire, as previously posted Brierley Hill Staffordshire and Kingswinford Staffordshire are both is in the registration district of Stourbridge

so this might be his birth entry

CARTWRIGHT David Dec 1863 Stourbridge vol 6c page 181

1901c give c 1862
Cartwright   David   c. 1862   39   Builder Clerk   Brierley Hill Staffordshire

the only birth entry Stourbridge 1862 for a David Cartwright  has middle name Henry

then the only other one I can see is for David Cartwright
Jun 1861 Stourbridge vol 6c page 244

I haven't got a definite date of his death though I did earmark the one you've stated. I've got him aged 27 on his marriage cert (married 1889) which would put his birth at 1862. I have him on the 1891 census aged 28 which I think would mean the census was taken before his birthday as I also have him on the 1901 census aged 39 which would mean the census was taken after his birthday but before he died if this was the year he died. Is there any way I can find out what month the censuses were taken, maybe this could narrow it down a little
