please help
« on: Saturday 13 June 15 23:02 BST (UK) »
I am new to all this, and have never posted anything so i apologize if i go wrong.

I am trying to research my family tree (Turpin) of which i have managed to find that Randolph (randy) Turpin was part of my tree somewhere. Could anybody shine a light on this subject or any info known on Removed as i believe this could be my father.

I have tried the likes of ancestery and find my past but am getting nowhere as like i said i am completely new to all this.

So any help or advice would be greatly appreciated.

do you know any details eg. where he lived when born, married or died?  Any of these would help you get started.

Welcome to Rootschat. The main rule here is not to post any information on living people.

When you say that you think Removed could be your father, is he named on your birth certificate? The way to find out things is to start with what you know for certain and work backwards. If you can give us a bit more information, I'm sure that someone will be able to help.

If you use FreeBMD (.org.uk) you can see a birth in 1951.

That gives you his mother's maiden name - Wallsgrove.

A further search on FreeBMD marriages shows a likely marriage in 1938.

I can't mention any names, as they may still be alive?
And it's a RootsChat rule not to mention the names of anyone who may still be living.

Leamington is in the Registration District of Warwick. But just search using the county of Warwickshire!
Garrad (Suffolk, Essex, Somerset), Crocker (Somerset), Vanstone (Devon, Jersey), Sims (Wiltshire), Bridger (Kent)

If you are researching your family history on your Father's side, you just need to work back systematically from what you know, getting certificates as you progress.

So, your parent's marriage certificate will have your grandfather's name, and your Father's birth certificate should have that name and the name of his Mother.

You can then get the marriage certificate of your grandparents for their Father's names.

If we are looking at a birth in 1951, are you certain that he is no longer alive? If there is any possibility that he is, I'm afraid you will have to remove his name from this post.

This looks like your grandfather's death, from Ancestry, but you need those other certificates to confirm:

Lionel Cecil Turpin born 26th November 1920, died July quarter 1990 in Mid Warwickshire district  volume 31 page  461

Added:
And possibly your grandmother:
Emily Rhoda Turpin born 21st April 1921 died January quarter 2002 in Mid Warwickshire district

I found several Robert Turpin and Randolph Turpin births, and deaths, in England- is it England or some other country he was born?

So easy to go wrong searching without taking things step by step as chempat suggested.
