GALE Family Tree
« on: Tuesday 16 June 15 04:12 BST (UK) »
Hello,
I am researching the Gale family Tree, and seem to have come to the brick wall.
I am back as far as Parnell Gale B- 1815 D- 1893 M- Margaret Penny (Penney, Pennie) Spelling??
                             Queens County.        Cork
His son was also Parnell William Gale B- 01/06/1844 D- NO DATE AS YET.
He Married 1878 Mary Wilhelmina Shine B- 1854 D- 24/10/1894
I would like to go back as far as possible, if possible.
I do know the son was part of the Royal Irish Constabulary, but still trying to find out paper details of it.
Thanks Again.

Hiya - this baby was b 1881 and that would make Parnell William Gale(b 1844 ) 37 at the birth - so - it may be a son or a grandson ...my Cousin lives in Midleton and have visited her there - so I know it is in Co Cork - is this any of your family ?
https://familysearch.org/ark:/61903/1:1:FBWH-Y3X
ADDED
with that son being born 1881 - I wonder if this is the marriage in 1878 ?
is Bandon by Middleton ?
https://familysearch.org/ark:/61903/1:1:FYQ5-2Y7
just checked AARouteplanner - Bandon to Middleton is 33 miles - so a possible connection ?

Hi,
I think that Parnell may be a cousin, I actually haven't expanded too much across the tree
But I do know Parnell William Gale had 4 children. Margaret, Berkeley, Robert and Arthur. The 1878 marriage is Parnell Gale (1844) to I think Margaret Penny

This is a difficult subject. I did find the burials for Parnell Gale, Mary Wilhelmina Gale and her husband Parnell William Gale at Old Municipal Cemetary in Wick if this helps anybody.

Related thread , to avoid duplication , here :

As mentioned before it was Parnell 1815 who was Chief Constable RIC , Parnell 1845 was employed by the Inland Revenue. I have your email from our recent contact so will send you the document.

Thank you once more for this article CB53, terrific. My quest is now going back in time, before Parnell Snr, which may be a step too difficult but it would be an achievement!

Hi Jan

There is a fair bit about the family on the internet. I thought this particular item was very interesting , although you would want to verify the accuracy. One source for possible confusion is the re-use of the name Parnell , and others.

http://alison-stewart.blogspot.co.uk/2014/04/the-gale-family-of-queens-county-and.html

If you search the page for the word Parnell ( Ctrl f ) hit number 13 refers to Parnell of the RIC as the son of the blind Captain William Gale. Lots to explore here , I think !

Good hunting

Christine

Oh my goodness, that is huge. I'll be here forever going through it all, but that's a good thing. Thank you once again, I'm sure there will be more questions to come.
