John Roughton born 1827 kingswinford.

1841/51 censuses needed

His father is called samuel. I desperately need all info on the family. Wife's name. Year Samuel was born siblings etc etc.

Doing the tree for a lady who has lost her dad and feels the need to find out more about his past.

Thank you.

Have you checked other spellings of the name?  Possibly Wroughton? Rowton???

Have you found John in any censuses, and what child is the ancestor of the lady in question?

According to the 1861 census he was born in Sedgley.

There is a John Routon born 1828 Sedgley on Ancestry in 1851, living in Kingswinford, unfortunately his father appears to be John.  Coal miners.

In 1841 that wrong family is probably the one transcribed as Rosten in 1841 on Ancestry.  (Looks like Roden on image, but wrong father still).

The John Roughton born Sedgeley living Kingswinford in 1861 married Ellen Edwards in Dudley on 28 May 1855. Now found on Freereg. John is a miner and his father is named as Samuel, also a miner.
I can't find any actual image to confirm that it has been transcribed correctly. However Freereg is done by volunteers (not the commercial pressure of some other sites) so I doubt that there is likely to be a mistake. Other possibility is that he got confused and gave wrong information to vicar.

Ancestry has a baptism for John Wroughton at Sedgeley on 29 Jul 1827, parents John and Mary.
John and Mary had several children baptised at Sedgeley over the range 1820 to 1835, as Wroughton / Roughton and Rotton. One was Samuel and one was Joshua. John jnr called one child Joshua. Did he confuse his brother's name with his father's when giving information for the marriage record?

Added - John and Mary's children baptism dates - All Sedgley
Joseph Wroughton    5 Nov 1820
Sarah Roughton         26 Jan 1823
Hannnah Rotton         10 Apr 1825
John Wroughton         29 Jul 1827
Benjamin Roughton    15 Apr 1830
Joshua Roughton      6 Dec 1832
Samuel Roughton      26 Apr 1835
