John Henry Heather
« on: Thursday 18 June 15 17:47 BST (UK) »
John Henry Heather was born July 7 1846 - 15 Mighell Street, Brighton, Sussex, England.  His parents were a George Heather and Ann Prevett.

In 1861 Ann was still listed as married, but living with her parents and John.

I can't find John or Ann in the 1871 or 1851 Census.  I can't find George ANYWHERE.

Help, please!

What was Georges occupation.  Have you found a marriage for him.

No sadly!  I have the names based on John Henry's birth, but no date of marriage, or occupation!

Is Column 6 on the birth certificate (father's occupation) just left blank?

Was Ann the informant, or someone else?

Sorry, I do have his occupation listed as "Fly Driver" as for witness, the certificate is buried somewhere so it may take a while for me to find it.

Have you ruled out this family? Ann's details not a perfect match but perhaps worth a look.

I hadn't ruled it out, but I hadn't proved it either! :)   Ann was for sure born in 1818 - (baptized August 16th).  As for this magical disappearing George, I have a potential birth as 1828 which would make him 10 years younger than Ann - the opposite of the family below!

I may have just found George Thomas Heather on the 1891 census - he's listed as a cab driver - but oddly enough not as widowed or married, but as single...

I found another George Heather on the 1841 Census in Sussex - where his listed father and older brother are both Fly Masters...  it's not proof, but it's a good lead!
