Cave family of Northamptonshire, Lincolnshire
« on: Thursday 18 June 15 18:56 BST (UK) »
I am looking for the parents of Frances Cave, born circa 1803 in Deeping St James. She married Jonathan Morris (1805 Northamptonshire - 1846 Deeping Gate) in 1829 Deeping St James  (Lincolnshire Marriage Index). Frances died circa 1903. Children were: Jonathan Morris 1829, Elizabeth Morris 1832 married Edward Thornley, John Thomas Morris 1837, Mary Ann Morris 1941, James Cave Morris 1847 married Sophia Smith,  possibly others. Any information would be greatly appreciated. Thanks ahead of time!

Hi and welcome to Rootschat

Can you clarify the death date for Frances as she would have been around 100yrs old in 1903.

She appears on the 1871 census aged 68 but I can't see an 1881 or 1891 entry for her

Is this how I reply to you?  Hope so!

In the 1881 census Frances is 81years old, lives in Deeping Gate with grandchild John Thornley. In a BMD index its "Fanny Morris, widow of Jonathan, Deeping Gate, died 5 May 1893." Sorry - 1903 was wrong....my goof!  Thanks for the fast reply!

Okay - I'll get it right eventually: "Northampton England Burials 1813-1912": Fanny Morris died 5 May 1894, age 93!!! Which would make her birth date 1801....not consistent with the census records: 1841 she's 35 (1806), in 1851 she's 48 (1803), and 1881 she's 81 (1800).  Have not found her listed in 1891 census either.

Welcome to Rootschat. I wouldn't worry too much about the slightly different ages on the cenus, that isn't uncommon. Remember that in the 1841 census ages over 15 were rounded to the nearest 5 years (i.e. a person aged 53 would be listed on the census as age 50 years).

Do you think this is it ?

Most of this couple's other children are baptised at Deeping St James

Name: Fanny Cave
Gender: Female
Christening Date: 18 Feb 1808
Christening Place: Deeping-Market, Lincoln, England
Birth Date: 09 Feb 1808
Father's Name: Thomas Cave
Mother's Name: Elizabeth

James Stott c1775-1850. James was born in Yorkshire but where? He was a stonemason and married Elizabeth Archer (nee Nicholson) in 1794 at Ripon. They lived thereafter in Masham. If anyone has any suggestions or leads as to his birthplace I would be interested to know. I have searched for it for years without success. Thank you.

Yes!  I had already picked Thomas Cave (1775) because his father Thomas Cave was born in Deeping St James in 1744 and married FRANCES Halton (or Healton). Thomas 1775 was married to Elizabeth Robinson.  Thanks so much for the help!

Thank you again for the help!

Now to figure out if Thomas Cave 1744 married Frances Houlton or Hoalton or Halton. It's not a name I have run across before.
