Leslie John Hart Jones
« on: Friday 19 June 15 22:53 BST (UK) »
This is my dads grandad. Born 1900 in London Surrey.
His mother was Elizabeth Ann Jones born 1879
and both lived on 89 Campbell Road. Belonged to Poplar, Bromley.

My dad has all the records of his military days but I so wish I could give him information on who Leslie John Hart Jones father was, and when he was born. The only record I have found, he's not even listed.
Anyone? For those who use ancestry this is the document I have http://search.ancestry.se/cgi-bin/sse.dll?gss=angs-g&new=1&rank=1&msT=1&gsfn=leslie+john&gsfn_x=NN&gsln=jones&gsln_x=1&mswpn__ftp=Bromley%2c+Hertfordshire%2c+England&mswpn=85390&mswpn_PInfo=8-%7c0%7c0%7c3257%7c3251%7c0%7c0%7c0%7c5268%7c85390%7c0%7c&MSAV=1&cpxt=1&cp=11&catbucket=rt&uidh=bz5&pcat=ROOT_CATEGORY&h=2969855&db=1911England&indiv=1&ml_rpos=6

No, unfortunately not. I know he was born 30th June 1900 in Brentford Middlesex
But most of the information I have is from ancestry and the dates are mostly wrong
So that's the date I'm sure of, as it's from his military records I have at home

I think you may need to buy a copy of his birth cert which can be ordered online using the reference I gave above (obtained from www.freebmd.org.uk)  Copies cost £9.25 inc postage

i suspect assumptions have been made re: his mother based on the 1911 entry which I don't think is the right entry

With a surname like Jones - you really need his birth cert

Well I'm trying to start from scratch.. I tried using sites like GenesReunited, but most of them you have to pay for.. and I dont even live in the UK.

So yes the only thing I am sure of at this point is his name Leslie John Hart Jones, born 1900.
I'm using my dads ancestry so I can't say what information apart from that is right or wrong.
He's just been clicking away adding a lot of wrong information... :-\

This is him

;DLook we have all done it clicked buttons and found what we hope is the correct family members,  in this case the birth registration link supplied by Carole would I believe be the best option to find out more?

The birthdate you have ties in with the 1900 birth registration but there is no 1901 entry which has all of his Christian names or a birthplace which matches the birth registration to be certain of the entry

I have checked for a Jones/Hart marriage but nothing shows up.  There is always the possibility he was illegitimate but without parental names it's impossible to say

Jones is a very common surname so you have to be extra careful when researching - particularly where so few other details are available.

Keep this post open and when you get his birth certificate post the details here and we will try to find him for you
