Halifax death
« on: Monday 22 June 15 11:57 BST (UK) »
Have traced James Wroe to landing in Halifax as soldier in 1902. Then dies Nov 1902
Would he be buried there? Was there something like a smallpox outbreak?

Hello Mike

Have you seen the following website W-Z British Medals

www.britishmedals.us/files/armydeathwz.htm

There is a listing for James under Army Death Indexes

I looked on Nova Scotia Vital Statistics but did not see anything for him

Perhaps contacting the person who owns this site can give you some information about James or at least steer you in the right direction.

You can order a copy of James' death registration from the GRO. If you order online, there is a section for ordering overseas BMD records. The GRO reference number would be page 674. The link provided by Lilybell gives all the information needed for ordering the certificate.

After much searching I finally found a death record for James. His name was transcribed as Wrae.

He died of pneumonia at Slatern or Slatrer Hospital(not sure if this spelling is correct it is hard to read) his last residence was Wellington Barracks and he is buried at Fort Massey Cemetery Halifax.

You can look his record up on the Nova Scotia Vital Statistics site or on FamilySearch

Cheers
