Searching for help on Margaret Walton
« on: Tuesday 23 June 15 12:14 BST (UK) »
Hi, we at a blank with research on my missing grandma Margaret Mable May Jones (birth surname Walton). My mom and her brothers were left behind when she walked out. Mom was told she had a Yorkshire accent. She married my grandpa in 1945, while they were in the army still. Margaret was a A.T.S

If anyone can help, as we can't find any birth records. But we do know her father was Arthur Stanley Walton.

Hi

Welcome to rootschat  :)

Do you have the marriage certificate for your grandparents.  If you do what age does it give for Margaret and what was her fathers occupation.

Does it definitely say she was 21 at marriage, rather than "over 21"?

An online tree has a Mabel Walton b 1924 to Arthur Stanley Walton & Lizzie Broadhead, marrying William Edward James Jones in Caerleon in 1945, and dying in Monmouth in 2005.

Take anything in other people's trees with a pinch of salt unless you can prove the details by your own research - especially here the death as Jones in Wales which does not look securely sourced.

Hi both, avm you found the right marriage certificate. But we not sure if that's the right Mabel, as my grandma was Margaret.

Rosie all it says is Age 21. In the presence of G E Lloyd and S H Havard.

KGarrad that's very interesting, it looks like she could of been born a Mabel then?? That's probably why we weren't finding Margaret Mabel Walton. It seems like we were looking at that name for yonks. Gonna have to find any living relatives for more possible clues.
