There's a death in Bridgend for a William Eastman, DecQ 1950, aged 69.

I know it's the wrong surname but I have several instances in my tree where the name is spelt incorrectly (even when the informant was a family member). Might be worth a look?

Have you got him on earlier census to confirm his age?

I've found a William Eastment son of Samuel and Mary whose age fits with a year of birth of 1878 / 1879.

This William has several sisters who look like they could be the sisters at the funeral.
Alice Eastment married  Ernest Salter 1921. Wellington, Som district
Other sisters married pre 1911 so only a guess as to which spouse
Edith Eastment poss groom Charles May -1903 Wellington dist
Mary Ann poss groom James Lock - 1896 Dulverton dist

In 1881 Walter Lock is a boarder with the family

The problem is - no brother Fred, unless he is on a census as a different name

added
Censuses are 1881 through to 1901, living in Wivelscombe. By 1901 his mother is widowed.

Was  Edith Eastment nee Wozencroft described as a wife or a widow at her death?
Have you accessed electoral rolls for that death address or the addresses at the (Late 1911) , 1916 & 1920 kids who look to be "theirs" ?

Pauline
Thanks for this, but we do not know if Edith was a widow when she died, we'll keep on searching, we'll try and dig a bit deeper.

Looking at the newspaper article it says that the William Eastment died on 17th inst, although the newspaper was published on 1st Jan, I suspect it meant 17th Dec (1935).
There is a death registered of a William Eastment age 58 (not 48) in Dec quarter 1935 in Wellington district 5c 313. That would be right age - never trust all you read in a newspaper!

good find , so he is oldest son of Samuel and Mary, also link between Wivelscombe and Croford (where newspaper report of William's funeral says where he was born) Also two Locks ( looks like young married couple) as lodgers
