Walter Coleman
« on: Wednesday 24 June 15 19:22 BST (UK) »
Hi,  I'm new to this family search so please be patient with me. I know all that I need to know about my mothers family but my fathers family remain a mystery.

Both my parents are deceased and I have no other family members to ask. I am searching for any information reference my paternal grandfather. He was born about 1902 in Birmingham and christened Walter Coleman. He married a lady who I think was called Caroline Cardall in 1925. They went on to have a son, my father in 1928. I believe my grandmother died in 1929. I think he went on to remarry in the 1930's but that is where I draw a blank.

My father never spoke about his past and now it's too late to ask. I would love to know if my grandfather remarried and if there were any other children. My grandfather died about 1954, my parents married in 1957 and I was born in 1959.

Unfortunately my father died in 1992 and my mother in 1990.

Thank you for reading this and if anyone has any idea of what I could do next I would be so grateful.

Kind regards, Jean

Hi, and welcome to rootschat.
A Walter Coleman and Caroline Cardall married October- December  1925 in Birmingham South district,  if this looks like the correct marriage.  (You do not say whereabouts your dad was born)

It may help to purchase this marriage cert.  as it will have Walters fathers name on it hopefully
There are two marriages in Birmingham between 1930 1940  for Walter Coleman,  but of course he could have remarried anywhere and there are a lot of Walter colemans around.

Any more info, however slight, that you may have will help.

Mike

Hi Mke and Thankyou for replying.
I will certainly obtain the marriafe certificate as suggested.
My father was born in Birmingham and lived there until his early thirties.
My grandfather died and was buried in Birmingham and I have some sort of burial certificate which I will dig out.

<I believe my grandmother died in 1929.>

She's still alive in 1935, as she and Walter are on the electoral register in 234 Park Lane, Aston

I slightly hesitate adding the next point - there's an interesting birth in 1947 in Stoke (same surname and mmn)

Yes,Charlotte is step-mother.  The others at the address are her children and their spouses.

Interesting point Mabel brought up about not seeing a death for Caroline. ???

Hi all,
Does this mean Caroline did not die in 1929 as I thought?
