Hartwood Ayslum - Hartwood, Shotts
« on: Friday 03 July 15 00:57 BST (UK) »
Hi
I am working on my family tree and have a relative who died there in 19xx.  The address on the death cert is 15 Hartwood Road which I assume must be the asylum.    How can I trace
where they are buried or cremated and who would have the record. :)

I am new to this.

This is a similar request to ones I have seen on this forum.

I am trying to find the death certificate of a family member (Thomas Johnstone) who died at Hartwood Hospital in the early 1950s.
I have tried unsuccessfully to find the statutory death record on Scotlands People and the only death in the Shotts area with that name was in 1949 which is not the person I am looking for.

I recall from my late grandfather that apart from the grave-diggers, he was the only person who attended the burial at Hartwood at that time.

I cant understand why the record cannot be found on SP and I would welcome any information from any other source which might be available.

What age was he when he died?

What was his mother's maiden name?
