18702/1953  JACKSON Charles Robert                                                   Bellingen
parents  William / Meta Sophia

SMH 18 Feb 1931
http://trove.nla.gov.au/ndp/del/article/16755210?
divorce for Charles

FreeBDM   Mar  Q  1918   Winchester   2c / 311
Charles R S JACKSON      m.    Kathleen Alice JACKSON

I cannot see his birth in NSW. His death certificate should have his birthplace.

On Charles's second marriage cert in 1933, he gives his father as William Heanry/Henry Jackson (deceased) can't quite make out his middle name.  Grazier

His birth  1889/12375  4 September 1889, 35 Church Street, Newtown.

His death cert gives his birth place as Sydney, NSW.

Sydney Benevolent Asylum
http://www.sydneybenevolentasylum.com/index.php?page=search-index

JACKSON Margaret  28y
JACKSON Charles 6y
JACKSON Phoebe 3w   all admitted 15 October 1896

These might be but, on the 1911 Census for Ireland it states Total children born alive  1   Children still living  1
Would need her marriage cert, if she was married. Wonder why they were in the Sydney Benevolent Asylum? Perhaps she just hit bad times - where was her brother Louis?

I apologize in advance if I am wrong - but I don't think she married and the Jackson surname came from her Grandmother.

Have no idea regarding the others, will have to study it all.

Re the information on the birth certificate for Charles

"...All I know is she gave birth to her son in Newton, near Sydney in September 1889 and was 22 years old".

What is your source for this information...........without which there is no reason to look for Meta being in NSW in 1889.........or any time before 1918?

My source is from Charle's birth registration -born 4 September 1889 -35 Church Street, NewtoWn, NSW

May I please ask you to type up the information from that document.   Is it for the birth registration of a Charles BOYD, with mother as Margaret S BOYD, registered in the Newtown district (inner Sydney suburb) .... NSW BDM registration no. 12375/1889 ....

Here are the headings on NSW BDM births from 1889
Date and place of birth of child
Name and whether present or not
Sex
Father's name, occupation, age and birthplace
Date and place of marriage, previous issue
Mother's name and maiden surname, age and birthplace
Informant,
Witnesses (1),  (2),  (3)
JM NOTES that often only (2) has a name as that was for the midwife.  (1) was for a medical doctor.
Particulars of registration  (name of the deputy taking the registration details .... informant driven, and of course the information was provided verbally until about 1918)

Cheers,  JM

Please do remember to pop the links to your earlier threads on the relevant new threads.   It was only by chance that I noticed the heading "Ships passenger lists to Australia 1889".   I recall that Merlin suggested Meta was likely to be Margaret, and that Cando found the 1911 Irish Census, and many other pieces of information from many RChatters including suggestions re the Benevolent Society's index.   It is somewhat disappointing when time is lost inadvertently looking up something that other RChatters have already researched and provided info.   So, please may I ask you to either pop the links into your Opening Post, or at least include a tad more info clues in your OP.

Cheers,  JM
