Elizabeth Scott Mabon
« on: Saturday 04 July 15 21:25 BST (UK) »
Hi, I'm looking to find where my ggg grandmother Elizabeth Scott Mabon is buried, she was born in Wilton Hawick 1820, died Jan 1888 Darnick, Melrose Roxburghshire. She married Walter Mabon born Selkirk 1814-1898 died at Kirkton . I live only 3 miles away from Darnick I'm a member of S.B.F.H.S and I've also had burial searches done by Scottish Borders Council to no avail. I would be very grateful if anyone can help me.
Regards and thank you.
Maj

Hi Maj,

Was her death registered by someone other than her husband..... if so was there an address for the informant  ???

Hi Annie, thank you for your reply. Her husband registered the death, no address just Darnick, on the 1881 Census they were living at Sunderlandhall. On the 1885 Valuation Roll they are at Darnick but no address there either.

Have you traced where most of the family were when she died..............she may have been buried near their hometown or.............in her birth town of Hawick ???

May be worth putting a request on the Roxburgh board for a cemetery look-up  ???

Hi Annie, Walter Mabon's  death was registered by his son-in-law who is buried in Lilliesleaf, his other two daughters are buried in Melrose. I've search all the nearest area  MI'S but nothing. I've been told Kirkton burial records didn't start until 1955.
