did you see the birth reg i put up for Charles Boyd. I don't think that Margaret Married.
Also she had a brother in australia. The stigma of giving birth if you were single then would have been terrible in Ireland.

 Sue,

Thank you very much for this information, I feel as if I am making some progress - I'll have a look at this on Ancestry, later today, at the library.

The birth for Margaret Sophia Boyd 1/8/1867. looks promising  :) I have the information on the burials at St Mark's Parish Church.
Now this is very interesting, that Margaret had a brother Louis Patrick Boyd B-12/9/1865 and died in NSW 9/8/1922.

Perhaps Margaret and her brother went out to Australia together or, he may have gone there earlier :-\

Yes, I have seen the birth reg you put up for Charles. I too, don't think Margaret married.

So, do you think her brother was already in Australia? Would make sense if he was. I did think of the stigma for a single woman in Ireland, giving birth.

Thank you once again.

Just because a family tree gives a birthdate doesn't mean it is accurate- there is no birth in Ireland for a Boyd girl for that date in GRONI's database.
Away sorting out DNA matches... I may be gone for some time many years!

Someone on Ancestry has the Boyd family in their tree.
They have a birth for Margaret Sophia Boyd 1/8/1867. there seem to be 7 other children to this family. Some of them are buried at Saint Mark's Parish Church Cemetery Armagh. Margaret had a brother Louis Patrick boyd B-12/9/1865 and died in NSW 9/8/1922.

Will be interesting to see the BOYD family tree and see the other children's names.

Still curious to know where the name JACKSON came from. Her son was named Charles Robert Jackson. Robert, possibly after her father.

Perhaps she went to Australia, had a child then married a Mr. Jackson afterwards.

Visited the library and got access to Ancestry.

Managed to find the BOYD family tree. There were 5 other siblings to this family.

I said I would like to find out where the name JACKSON came from and, on the family tree, Margaret's G Grandmother was Sarah Jane JACKSON may, or may not be the connection.

I haven't found a marriage for Margaret in Australia or Ireland.

He went to Australia in 1886 age 17 yrs. with his parents and Margaret Boyd. Don't know as yet whether he married in there or, returned to Ireland.
