Robert Sutton Fustian Worker in Manchester 1814
« on: Sunday 05 July 15 14:01 BST (UK) »
Can anyone help me with Robert Sutton born I think in 1789, yet death year unknown.

He married a Susannah Bentley  but who were her parents. And when was she born and died. ?

Were both Robert and Susannah were Fustian Workers in Manchester.?

They do not show on the earliest census of 1841, and I find it hard to uncover.

Have found a ma to SusannahBentley in 1816 in Manchester but no more detail - you will have to look at parish reg to see if it gives more details.
Do you have any more info?  Did she die and did Robert marry again?

Have found a Robert Sutton with  a wife Sarah and family in 41 &51, he is a Fustian Cutter but many people in that area were in the wollen/cloth trade.
If you think this may be ime I can let you have details.

1841 at Garden Court Manchester (all born Lancs)
Robert Sutton  1791    Fustian Cutter
Sarah Sutton    1796
Alice Sutton     1821
Robert Sutton    1827
Elizabeth Sutton   1829
Sarah Maria Sutton  1832
No occupations given other than for Robert Snr.

Just above this entry is one for the Humphreys family, John, his wife and 2 children plus a Female Servant Susannah Sutton aged 15!  Could she be another of the Sutton's children named after Robert's first wife working next door?

1851 at 1 Court Fennell Street Manchester
Robert Sutton   1790 b Salford  Tustian Cutter (I have corrected this record with FMPast to Fustian Cutter)
Sarah Sutton  wife 1793 b Manchester
Robert Sutton son  unm 1827 b Manchester  Whilesmith (I have also corrected this record to WhiTesmith)
Sarah M  Sutton dau  unm b 1833 Manchester  Silk Weaver
Ann Bleakley g/dau unm b 1835 Manchester  Nurse
John Brown nephew unm b 1830 Manchester Machine engraver/etcher
Samuel Brown B/in/Law Widr b 1799 Manchester  Warehouseman
Robert Pritchard Lodger b 1800 Manchester  Pauper

I cant find anything more on Ann Bleakley nor Samuel or John Brown. Presumably they are father and son and Samuel could well be Sarah's brother so then you may have her maiden name.

Hope this helps.
