Williams family of High St Holywell 1891
« on: Monday 06 July 15 06:28 BST (UK) »
I am trying to piece together a tree for a friend who does not have  a computer. Her father was born (in NZ) illegitimate, to a David Alyn Roberts and he never knew who his father was. This has all come to light from other extended family, since his death.
David Alyn Roberts  NZ death cert in states his parents were Rowland Roberts and Anne Williams. After a little research I think have found him in 1891, aged 6, living with his mother and siblings with his paternal grandfather David Williams at Oswalt House, High St Holywell.
I wonder what was Oswalt House ? The grandfather's occupation was Grocer.
Any ideas for my  future research would be most appreciated, thank you.
David Alyn Roberts left UK in 1910.

Hi
This looks like the parents marriage June 1879 Holywell 11b 443

Rowland Roberts and Anne Williams

Is this then 1861 High St Holywell?
David Williams 39 grocer and baker Whitford
Elizabeth 35 Denbigh LLanfydd
Isaac 8 Whitford
Ann 4 Holywell
Charlotte 2
and 2 servants.

They are there in 1881 as well just missing Annie.

The article here under Holywell,  is about a presentation for their marriage.

Thanks so much for the replies. I am slowly starting to build up a tree for my friend . I will also try an online newspaper search for her father's maternal side , the Sadlers, also from Flintshire.
They also left for NZ in the early 1900s with 12 children.
So much to discover  and after knowing nothing of her heritage for the last 60 years my friend is very happy as we are slowly piecing it all together.

Thanks again

Hi
Have you seen the 1881 census for Rowland and Ann  also on the High St at Holywell?
High St Panten Place
Rowland Roberts 28 ironmongers assistant Coedporth
Ann 24 Holywell
Edith Elizabeth 10 mths Holywell
Thomas Williams 19 lodger iron mongers assistant Ruthin
Elizabeth Roberts 14 servant Holywell

This could be him in 1861 but he's the second son
Nant Borsham Wrexham
Thomas Roberts 37 tailor draper Ruthin
Elizabeth 35 Denbigh Llanermon?
Thomas 11 Wrexham
Rowland 8 Wrexham
Mary Ann 5
Elizabeth 1

1871 Bersham Coedporth Ruthin Road Salem Terrace
Thomas Roberts 47 tailor and draper Ruthin
Elizabeth 47 Llanarmonyrsgale
Thomas 21 tailor Coedporth
Rowland 18 ironmonger Minerva
Mary 15 millner Coedporth
Elizabeth 11
Edward 9
Sarah 3
Sussana Jones 15 servant Wrexham

Strangely Rowland and Anne are in Wrexham on the 1911 (sorry not allowed to post that) so David must have traveled overseas on his own.

These people are all in Grave 04018 in Wrexham Ruabon Road Cemetery.
It seems David was brought back home to be buried.
These are burial records, not MI`s .
