Susannah TURNER - Hasketon - birth/baptism
« on: Monday 06 July 15 13:24 BST (UK) »
I believe she was born / baptised in Hasketon around 1753, also she married John Cresswell probably in Hasketon as well around 1788.
Any records and details would be very useful, also any names of her parents if known.
I have records of some of their children born in Woolverstone from 1788.

I have managed to find their marriage in Hasketon 29 June 1778, under Susan and Susanna.

Hasketon baptisms and burials are online and there are no Turners at all so think you'll find that this was not her parish of birth, just where she was living at the time.

Added: according to burial at Woolverstone, she was born circa 1753.

That is very useful, thanks. Do you have a link to the Hasketon records?

Yes Woolverstone is where her husband came from.

Hasketon baptisms are (free) on familysearch.org.   Burials on FindMyPast.

Incidentally, unless you have already got John Cresswell's baptism, I don't think that Woolverstone was his birth parish.   Burial entries for Cresswell in Woolverstone only appear after their marriage and relate to themselves and their children.   As with Susannah, his given parish of Woolverstone on his marriage record simply means that's where he was living at the time, not that he was necessarily born there.

No doubt John was working/living in Woolverstone when they married, and likewise Susannah in Hasketon.

Woolverstone baptisms are also on familysearch.org and no Cresswell's there before them so obviously he came from elsewhere also.

Sorry I can't give you the baptisms you seek but this is a clear illustration of both parties not being actually born in the parishes they were living in when they married and they were no doubt living there because of work.
