No trip to Dublin is required as most of the records are online these days.

It's just that, and sorry, but when someone says 'I'm looking for a Patrick Ryan b 1841 in Roscommon' I laugh, again sorry.

I think it's possible the most common name in Ireland.

You have to smile when you think about it.

The Genealogy Gods have not been kind to you  ;D

Thanks Hallmark.  I have looked at the 1841 birth year he is not recorded so I will have to check years either side of 1841.

You will find kids age 6 or 8 etc being baptized......

Try trawling their local newspapers for mentions  ;D

You never know where a lead will crop up.

After Tara and Hallmark making contact with me I have gone through all of the certificates that I hold but I had never checked the finer detail, I gave up my family history for a number of years.  I have found that my G G gran's maiden name was Anne Finnerty DOB @1845 in Co Mayo Died in Liverpool 16 March 1898.  She had a brother Patrick Finnerty born Co Mayo, I do not know his DOB.  Her father was Michael Finnerty by 1863 he was dead I do not know where he died.  I have roughly worked out that he was born @1825.  I am slowly chipping away at the Irish side of the family tree.  Keith

Hi Keith

Well isn't this fab news.

Sometimes we all get swamped in a certain branch of a family and that's when we miss / overlook crucial information.

Coming back renewed and with fresh eyes can really help.

So, where did Patrick Ryan marry Anne Finnerty ~ was it in Ireland or England ?

Do you know when ?
