The passenger list is here - https://familysearch.org/ark:/61903/1:1:275H-VKL

The earlier passenger lists don't have much detail.
Thank you Shellyesq, I was unable to download the passenger list info, message said
to try again so I will keep doing so. Now we are on the subject of passenger lists is it possible
for you to find James Headifen either arriving in NY or as I found him in the Village of Cohoes
Albany ,NY Census,he is aged about 68yrs and occupation "Dresser".This part of my ancestors
all originated in NIreland, then to Glasgow where they were in the Linen Trade,as Power Loom
Weavers,etc,
I am wondering if he could possibly be the father of one of my Peter's ???? as that was his
occupation in Glasgow,"Cotton Dresser",,perhaps he followed them out to USA as he was a
widower.

Kind regards
Janey. :)

HI Sandra.oldohiohome.Erato.Shelleyesq.Erato;

WOW; hope I have not missed anyone. you guy's have gone overboard with the research you have done on my no longer lost family,I have to change the heading to 'Found'.

First I will say to 'oldohiohome' I believe the Peter Headifen you found in NJ.1871 Cen 21Goodwin.Paterson.occ;Turner.is the one (mar)to Isabella m/s  McNaughton.(distant cousin in NZ
has a good 'Family Tree') belief is Isabella died between 1860/65. I was thinking she may have died around the time Peter became a US Citizen 1857.?? Also 'Aunt Mary' to Gertrude Headifen McRae
died without heirs is quite surely the daughter of Peter & Isabella. I believe  they only had two kids, however I'm told a Peter Headifen (b)1861 NJ. occ; Machinist. no known parents at this time. told he went to live with an Aunt Mary Hedefin Kean & sp.Frederick Kean, occ;Tailor.in Watervliet Albany
NY, and became listed on census as 'Peter Kean'. this is another puzzle with this family. ???

I was thrilled to read all the newspaper clippings Sandra.sure paints a good picture of the family,
my late Mother was a Headifen but the name was 'Haddifon' by the time she was born in mid
1900's with generations educated going to school she was our family historian, having some B/M certs. which got me started researching.I joined a Historical Society in Glas.Scot  and got a 'bunch'
of family names but not much history unless I paid fees on Scot/People but they did not have a lot of records  due to 'varients' in surname spelling they could not be found.

Agnes H.Kelly was the daughter of John and Mary Gill. and she (mar) Mike Kelly famous 'Ball Player' I had a contact send me info on Mike as the cause of death was 'alcohol abuse'.I have a tree on this family though I did not have death  info on Arthur & Grace . I did find Arthur working on his sister 'Fanny Howatt' farm as a florist,  interesting to read about his later life.I will contact  the 3x Grt
Grandaughter of Peter&Elizabeth and pass on the new info . she had Peter H.(d) 8Dec 1889 as her relative.

Now here is a query I have as I found this Peter H.(d)1889 with cert # 42751 . I also found another Peter H.(d) same date 8Dec.1889 with cert # 2865. this was on ancestry.so it just goes to show how records can be recorded wrong depending on who writes it down. I will look into buying these certs.

Sandra  found James Headifen in Watervliet Albany Ny,I found him in Cohoes Albany same time,
he is the father of Peter H.(mar) to Isabella.after he was widowed for the second time he emm to
NY. USA in 1854. he was a 'dresser in cotton mills but working as a saloon keeper and living in the owners house.I have not found his date of death.

Last to say for now is how much I appreciate all your help, many  thanks a bunch,,,,,,,,

Kind regards
Janey :)

I think this is the family in 1860, in Paterson, New Jersey:

https://familysearch.org/ark:/61903/1:1:MFHF-MYQ
:) HI;  I am back again at the research business after a long delay with serious health issues and this past June major surgery I'm now recovering nicely with more energy. and asking for help with this elusive family of mine. ???

I did go back and read all the info you guy's found for me and it was of great value. I sent money to USA for Two death certificates for Peter Headifen from the numbers I had and only got one back
#2865  info states he died in the local Asylum. No cause given or spouse name address etc I was very disappointed. Now from the copy you found of 1860 NJ Census showing Peter Isabella both
born Scot son James age 7 and Mary 1/12 mth both born NJ. Isabella age should be about 31yrs.

Also living with them is the John Brown family  spouse name Gertrude age 34yrs. now I'm wondering if this lady could be a sister of Isabella  ??? it's a wild guess. Both families have a daughter named Mary who could have been named after a Granmother but the Gertrude name is the clue. Above James Headifen married a lady named Susie Bissell they had only one daughter named Gertrude she went on to marry a Johnston McRae.

James and Susie separated due to Susie's poor health and James went on as single working in Long Island NY he died there in an accident in 1910 and daughter Gertrude went to court to claim his estate family history is she knew her Aunt Mary James sister who never married and made no claims on the estate.

Family history is Isabella Headifen died shortly after baby Mary was born 1860 as evidence is Peter remarried Elizabeth Sedgwick Fyfe and they had 3 children  Elizabeth (Lillian) Frederick Louis.
With help from a Find a Grave member I have found the whole family  10 of them  in one grave
except James Headifen who is buried with a friend named  Louis (Lewis) which makes me wonder in they kept in touch and Peter & Elizabeth named their youngest son after this man. ???

This whole Headifen family has kept me at it for years mainly due to the various Surname  spelling
and any help or ideas from members is so greatly appreciated. I will leave this in your capable hands thanks a bunch.

Cheers & kind regards from Canada.

Janey, :D 8)

HI GUY'S :)

Sorry I was replying to an old quote from Erato and should have put a name on it. I was updating
family tree and wondered if anyone could help with the disappearance  of Mary Headifen.

Family history says Peter's first wife may have been Isabella McNaughton.  ???I can't seem to find their marriage on Scotlands People.    I'm not too impressed with them as I never have much luck.
I have another possible name of Isabella King died February 18 1861 Passiac New Jersey age 38yrs
since I have no idea who this is I will send for the certificate and hope to get lucky .Will keep you all posted on this mystery ::).

Kind regards;

Janey
